Seniors Create! Lifelong Learning Arts Masterclass
Program Designed for People Ages 55 and Better!
Now in its Third Season – Back by Popular Demand
Come meet people with similar interests. Relax and enjoy learning new artistic skills at the Boise Art Museum.
Ages: 55+
Each workshop = 8 sessions
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Boise Art Museum
Workshop Fee (includes materials for use in the Museum)
$180 per 8-session workshop for BAM Members (Join today and save!)
$230 per 8-session workshop for non-members

Art and Life: Book Arts

September | 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30, & October 2 | 2025
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Boise Art Museum
Materials are provided for use during the workshop in the Museum.
Create art books using non-adhesive binding methods such as folding and stitching. Make a new book form each session, culminating in a Coptic-stitched journal. Transform simple materials into beautiful, expressive works of art inspired by the unique artmaking approach of celebrated Idaho artist James Castle.

Art and Community: Mosaic Art

2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Boise Art Museum
Materials are provided for use during the workshop in the Museum.
Refine your design skills by thoughtfully combining glass pieces into a unified mosaic composition. This workshop draws inspiration from the exhibitions Bean Finneran: Curves, Cones, and Rings and Julie Green: The Last Supper. (Please note: students will use rotary nippers to hand-cut glass throughout the session.)

Art and Nature: Collage

Materials are provided for use during the workshop in the Museum.
Learn the techniques of collage to compose original works of art. Inspiration is drawn from the artworks on paper on display in the Boise Art Museum including the art exhibition James Castle: Perspectives.

Practice assembling found and collected objects into a sculptural artwork that carries a story with your desired meaning, inspired by the art exhibition Jeffrey Gibson: They Teach Love.

Art and Tradition: Fiber Arts

Materials are provided for use during the workshop in the Museum.
Use fiber arts techniques, such as wrapping, knotting, netting, embroidery, beading, surface design, sewing, and handweaving to create a soft-sculpture artwork. Inspiration comes from the exhibition Jeffrey Gibson: They Teach Love.

Art and Play: Printmaking

Materials are provided for use during the workshop in the Museum.
Experiment with a variety of printmaking techniques to build layered, colorful prints using a printing press as well as accessible hand printing systems. The source of inspiration for this workshop is the exhibition Jeffrey Gibson: They Teach Love.
Boise Art Museum was thrilled to introduce this new program for adults ages 55 and better. Our first series of workshops took place from September 2023, to April 2024.

Art Camps for Children
BAM’s studio art programs encourage the creative abilities of all participants by offering experiences in a variety of art media. Campers will spend time with original artwork and make their own projects in the studios every day. All activities are inspired by BAM’s current exhibitions and instructed by professional Art Educators and Artists. Group sizes are small for individualized attention and safety. Pre-registration required.

Classes + Workshops for Adults
BAM’s studio art program encourages the creative abilities of all participants by offering experiences in a variety of art media which provide opportunities for making connections with BAM’s exhibitions. Through reputable artists and educators, we provide quality instruction for all ages in a small-class, non-competitive and enjoyable atmosphere. Class size is limited to optimize learning. Participants must pre-register to reserve a space as class size is limited. Please dress for mess!
