Western Museums Association – Charles Redd Center for Western Studies Award for Exhibition Excellence
School tour - MinidokaMinidoka: Artist as Witness
was selected for the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies Award for Exhibition Excellence, which Executive Director Melanie Fales accepted at an international conference of the Western Museums Association in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Redd Center representatives stated that the exhibition “truly exemplifies exhibition excellence as it is an important examination of a complex issue as it impacts a major Western state.” Minidoka: Artist as Witness was made possible by community collaborations and brought people together around shared values concerning civil liberties and human rights. Generous local and national funding was evidence of the universal importance of these topics to our communities.
American Alliance of Museums – 1st Place Award for Publication Design
James Castle Childrens Book - cover graphic2 for webBAM’s first children’s book, A Life Told Through Pictures: James Castle, Idaho Artist, 1899-1977, won the First Place Award for Publication Design in the American Alliance of Museums’ national competition. BAM’s graphic designer for more than 25 years, the late Geoffrey Beard, was responsible for the design of this book. This award is a fitting tribute to Geoff and his devotion to high-quality creative designs for BAM throughout his career.  A limited number of books is available for purchase exclusively at the BAM Store.
These awards reinvigorate our work and contribute to our gratification in serving our community through exceptional exhibitions, collections, and educational opportunities.  We are grateful for the widespread encouragement and support from members, donors, artists, collectors, educators, volunteers, and partners who recognize the importance of the visual arts for building a strong, vibrant community.
