Women in American Impressionism:

Three Masterworks from the Smithsonian American Art Museum
Curriculum Summary

BAM has developed these materials as a resource for teachers who are creating educational activities for their students while they are learning from home. This program fulfills national and state high school teaching standards.

Teachers can share the links with students and can assign one lesson, a combination of lessons, or all lessons, as appropriate.

Through this curriculum students will observe and investigate three masterworks by famous American Impressionists. The lessons below are designed for teachers to share directly with students, and include:

  • conversation guides;
  • digital images;
  • at-home activities; and
  • art-making projects.
