Inspired by original prints from The World Stage exhibition, this virtual workshop will investigate various printmaking techniques used by contemporary artists concerned with the current conditions of our world. Printing processes used in the exhibition will be translated to affordable and accessible DIY methods practiced safely at home. Explore relief printing, stenciling, and experimental image transfer techniques to develop rich, multi-layer prints. The class is designed for students to work at an individual pace and is open to all levels of experience.
Demonstration videos and resources will be available online outside of the class meeting time for convenient access. Tuesday sessions include demonstrations and step-by-step instruction. Thursday sessions offer additional guidance and an opportunity to share work in progress and discuss ideas.
Workshop fee includes a kit of class materials to be picked up at BAM prior to the first session.
