Boise Art Museum receives inaugural Mosaic 2024 Community Champion Award
November 1, 2024
Boise Art Museum is proud to share that they are the recipient of the inaugural Mosaic 2024 Community Champion Award.
This award was presented to Melanie Fales, Executive Director, for her initiatives to incorporate community collaborations, inclusive design, and accessibility at the Boise Art Museum for the benefit of people who are blind.
“I am honored to receive this award on behalf of the Boise Art Museum. It has been a pleasure to partner with people in our community who are blind and to make the Museum welcoming and accessible based on their recommendations,” said Melanie Fales, Boise Art Museum’s Executive Director. “We know we still have more work to do.”
For the past four years, the Boise Art Museum has been focused on inclusive design and access for people who are blind by collaborating to prototype braille instructions, welcome cards, and maps, as well as touchable samples and tactile representations of artworks.
Mosaic 2024 was the first international convening of professionals who are making a difference in inclusive design and accessibility in their professional fields. The summit took place in Boise, from October 8 – 11, 2024.
Boise Art Museum’s inclusive design and access initiative has been funded in part by grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
