"The Daily News" - Boise Art Museum
Get your daily art here. The Boise Art Museum opens a new exhibit, "The Daily News" on Saturday. It features 11 U.S.-based artists and their takes on the daily newspaper. Some of the artists literally use newsprint in their work as media. Some create pieces that represent them in some way. And others draw from newspaper content to inform their work. One of the artists, Xiaoze Xie, is originally from China and now lives in Lewisburg, Penn. He gave a presentation on his work at Boise State University in March. He does paintings of newspapers such as the one pictured above, "Shanghai No. 1," oil on canvas. The museum also will show a digital video of Xie's work, pictured right.
Saturday through March 19. Boise Art Museum, 670 Julia Davis Drive. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, until 8 p.m. Thursdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. $5 general, $3 college students and seniors, $1 grades 1-12. Free for children younger than 6.
